Learning Objectives

Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the students and introduce the topic: learning about the letter A! Ask them if they know any words that start with the letter A. Write down a couple of answers on the board if you can. - Watch the Video (3 mins)
Play the 'The Letter A Song' video by Bounce Patrol. Encourage the students to sing along and dance. - Discuss the Video (5 mins)
After the video, review the uppercase and lowercase letter A. Ask the students to point out the letter A whenever they see it on flashcards. Discuss the words from the video (ant, apple, astronaut, ace, arrow, anchor). Show pictures of each object and ask the children to identify them. - Letter A Activity (10 mins)
Have students create their own 'A is for...' artwork. Provide them with construction paper, crayons, markers, and stickers. Each student will choose an A word and draw a picture of it. Help them write the letter 'A' next to their picture. - Writing Practice (5 mins)
Use a whiteboard or large paper and demonstrate how to write the uppercase and lowercase letter A. Then, have the students practice writing the letters on their own paper or in sand trays. - Review and Wrap-up (2 mins)
Quickly review the letter A, the /a/ sound, and the A words they learned. Sing the Letter A song again if time allows.
