- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by greeting the students and introducing the letter of the day: G! Ask if anyone knows any words that start with G (e.g., game, green, girl). Tell them they will be learning to write both big (uppercase) and small (lowercase) G. - Uppercase G (10 mins)
Play the video from 0:15-0:54, focusing on the uppercase G. Pause the video after each step. Have students practice writing the uppercase G in the air with their fingers, then on paper or a whiteboard. Emphasize starting at the top and making the curved line, then adding the straight line in the middle. - Lowercase G (10 mins)
Play the video from 0:54-1:32, focusing on the lowercase G. Pause the video after each step. Have students practice writing the lowercase G in the air with their fingers, then on paper or a whiteboard. Emphasize starting in the middle with a small curve, then going straight down and curving at the bottom. - Practice and Review (10 mins)
Have students practice writing both uppercase and lowercase G on a worksheet or in a notebook. Circulate and provide individual assistance as needed. Encourage them to say the steps as they write. - Wrap up (5 mins)
Have students name words that start with G. Ask them how they felt about writing the letter G. Remind them that they will continue working on forming the letters.
