Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know what a story is. Ask them if they have favorite stories. Explain that stories have a beginning, middle, and end. Tell them that today, they are going to learn how to put the parts of a story in order. - Video Viewing (7 mins)
Play the YouTube video 'Sequencing Stories - Episode 14'. Pause after each story to give students time to think. - Story Retelling (8 mins)
After each short story in the video, ask the students to retell what happened. Prompt them with questions like, 'What happened first?', 'What happened next?', 'What happened at the end?'. - Sequencing Activity (10 mins)
Draw simple pictures representing events from one of the stories (e.g., the 'High Tide' story: boy sleeping, sea rising, boy waking up). Give each student a set of the pictures. Have them arrange the pictures in the correct order. Help as needed. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the concept of sequencing. Ask students why it's important to know the order of events in a story. Recap the stories from the video.
